End Local Hunger, Live Green, Be Healthy, and Lift Your Spirits

Our Mission

We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization with a mission to end local hunger through donation of nutritious, delicious, and easy to cook BagOfLife® meals to those facing hunger, to build a deep commitment to green living, and to develop knowledge and empathy for the underserved in our communities. With 1 in 7 (over 46 million) fellow Americans facing malnutrition resulting in an avalanche of obesity, Type 2 diabetes, and heart disease, our mission is to provide a variety of nourishing and easy to cook meals individuals and families can enjoy.

  • Fight hunger by donating a line of delicious, nutritious, and easy to cook BagOfLife® meals to food banks, community service organizations, and college/university food pantries.
  • Deliver a program of nutrition education, smart food shopping, and healthy cooking skills to the under-served community to help combat obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and cancer.

  • Deliver a program of personal practices to develop deep commitment to eating green to help save energy and reduce packaging waste.

  • Deliver a program of personal practices to develop empathy for the under-served communities through the practice of survival eating and donating the savings to fight local hunger.

  • Partner with local and national organizations, communities, and government agencies to end local hunger, support green living, and provide nutrition education to encourage intelligent shopping and healthy cooking.

President’s Message

Though I started my working life as a civil engineer, and then morphed into a management consultant, www.center4pm.com, my hobby and ‘off screen’ focus has been on developing recipes for foods that are nutritious, delicious, and tasty; considered to be a dichotomy by many. At the start of 2007, I began writing a food column for three regional newspapers with much positive response from readers. Then starting in 2009 with the economy taking a deep hit, the nation faced a new dilemma — widespread problem of hunger and poor nutrition in the under-served community and on the other end of the scale, nation’s obesity rates were in a steep upturn. This led me to wondering how I could use my professional experience to advance the cause of fighting hunger,  living a more green and empathetic life which is mindful of the needs of others. One of the triggers for the change was an experience while I was on a consulting assignment in Segovia, Spain. The elevator in my hotel building had a sign that read, “Occupancy 5.” Someone had crossed it out and jotted down, “Or 3 Americans.”

The result is the FamilyGreenSurvival® with a mission to fight hunger and to deliver a program of healthy nutrition practices to combat the ever growing obesity. We also strive to build a deep commitment to green living and to develop knowledge and empathy for the world’s under-served population.
