The CNN web site (December 5, 2012) carried a story: Cory Booker (Newark Mayor) spending week on food stamps.

It is admirable that Mayor Booker is going to actually experience the limitations of $4.32/day, the budget provided to people participating in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), formerly known as food stamps, in the State of New Jersey. If he shops like most people do – depending on animal protein and canned foods for basic nutrition, he is certainly going to run out of funds by the third or fourth day. Most people haven’t figured out that beans, legumes, grains, nuts, and seeds are excellent source of not only high quality protein, but also provide complex carbohydrates, good quality fat, fiber, and essential micronutrients at highly reasonable rates. We at FamilyGreenSurvival have developed the BagOfLife program, http://familygreensurvival.com/programs/bagoflife-program-eat-healthytoday/, which consists of four nutritious, tasty, and easy to prepare meals – GrandHotCereal, SoupOfLife, LeanMeanBeanCuisine, and NuttyQuinoaPilaf. These meals provide the daily recommended essential nutrients for $4, and one does not feel hungry or wanting. The program has received wide press coverage including an in-depth article in Sierra Sacramento Valley Medicine, a medical journal. We have been assembling and distributing these meals free of cost to families in need for the last six months.

We will be more than happy to ship a week’s worth of meals to Mr. Booker to help him in his quest to eat well within the tight SNAP budget.
